  • What can I expect at my first appointment?
During your first appointment, the practitioner will take a thorough case history to have a deeper understanding of your problem, helping us to form an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. This will be followed by an examination, where an osteopath will look at and assess the function of your spine and any other related joints. We will ask you to remove outer clothing, such as jumpers and jackets, so we recommend wearing flexible clothing. Once we finish the examination, we will discuss the findings and diagnosis with you and explain our proposed treatment approach. Our treatment generally consists of stretches, massage, articulation and manipulations to reduce the restrictions and tension in your body, with advised stretches, strengthening exercises and little tricks that can help you with your pain.
  • How long is each appointment?
An initial consultation is roughly 60 minutes, with a follow-up appointment lasting 30 minutes. The osteopathy and massage is a 1-hour appointment, only available as a follow-up appointment and recommended for people with 3 or more areas of injuries. This will allow us enough time to treat all areas.
  • Is there parking at the practice?
There is plenty of parking available on the drive. We ask you kindly to leave enough space for other patients.
  • How much is a consultation?
An initial consultation is £60, follow-up appointments are £48 and an osteopathy and massage is £70.
  • What are your opening hours?
    Monday: 8.30 - 20.00 Tuesday: 8.30 - 20.00 Wednesday: 8.30 - 20.00 Thursday: 8.30 - 20.00 Friday: 8.30 - 20.00 Saturday: 9.00 - 12.00 Sunday: Closed
  • What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Anything outside of this means you may be charged the full treatment cost at the practitioner's discretion. We understand that occasions may arise where cancelling or missing an appointment is unavoidable, working with each patient on a case-by-case basis to reassess and reschedule. We kindly ask all clients to understand and respect our late cancellation policy to allow us to accommodate all of our clients flexibly.
  • What is the difference between osteopathy and chiropractic treatment?
Osteopathy and chiropractic treatment share similarities in their holistic approach to managing musculoskeletal issues but differ in their techniques and philosophies. Osteopathy focuses on a broader range of therapeutic techniques, including soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, joint manipulations, fascial unwinding, cranial techniques and exercises, aiming to restore overall health by improving the body's structure and function. Chiropractic treatment primarily emphasises on spinal adjustments to alleviate pain and enhance nervous system function.
  • Can you help with back pain?
Osteopathy has shown to be effective in treating various types of back pain, including acute and chronic conditions. After taking a thorough case history and examination, we will be able to tell you what we think it is and how we can help to make it better. We use a combination of hands-on techniques, such as soft tissue work, joint mobilisation and spinal adjustments which will help to alleviate pain, reduce muscle tension and increase mobility. Additionally, we will provide you with exercises and postural advice to help prevent future episodes of back pain. Every treatment plan is unique and is tailored to you, to give each patient the best outcome.
  • Is there a difference between lower back pain and sciatica?
Absolutely! Sciatica is often referred to pain in the lower leg and toes, this can go hand in hand with lower back pain but is not always the case. Lower back pain can also be caused by inflamed facet joints or arthritis that can refer pain into the thigh and leg. That is where osteopaths can step in and help you to differentiate your source of pain and injury. We are highly trained in diagnosing musculoskeletal problems. After a thorough case history and examination we will be able to treat you accordingly. Osteopaths will use gentle traction techniques to reduce the compression of the spine which therefore alleviate pressure on the sciatic nerve. We will also address the compensatory pain patterns by using gentle joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage and stretching exercises. This will relieve pain, improve mobility, reduce muscle tension and promote healing.
  • Can you help with joint issues such as hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow & wrist pain?
Of course we can! Often repetitive injuries, (previous) trauma or wear and tear can cause our peripheral joints to become irritated. Osteopaths can help to reduce stiffness, swelling, pain, muscle tension and relieve pain by using hands-on techniques. Additionally specific exercises will be given to help to strengthen the supporting muscles of the joint and stretch out the tight muscles. Treatment plans are customised to suit the specific needs of each patient, focusing on enhancing joint health and overall well-being.
  • Can you help with headaches?
Osteopathy can help alleviate headaches and migraines by addressing musculoskeletal imbalances that may contribute to tension and pain. Osteopaths use techniques such as cranial osteopathy, fascia therapy, soft tissue work, and spinal adjustments to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. By addressing the underlying causes of headaches, such as neck tension or poor posture, osteopathy aims to reduce the frequency and severity of headaches while enhancing overall health.
  • Can you tailor your treatment to my specific condition?
Osteopathy emphasises on personalised treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique condition, symptoms, and goals. We conduct thorough assessments to understand the underlying causes of the patient's health issues, which may include musculoskeletal pain, joint stiffness, or postural problems. Based on this assessment, we develop individualised treatment strategies that may include manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, ergonomic advice, and lifestyle changes. This approach ensures that patients receive targeted care aimed at addressing their specific needs and optimising their recovery and well-being.
